As the events of October 7 unfold, we find ourselves reflecting on the past year
Throughout this period, one question has lingered in my mind: Why are Western communities more vocally moral than Muslim ones? Please don’t misunderstand me; I recognize the differences in our systems and the nature of democracy in the West. I do not intend to suggest that they are better than us. Instead, Igenuinely seek to understand why Western voices seem to advocate more
.vigorously than those from Muslim or Arab communities
After one year, much of the content still circulating in the media originates from Western sources. My focus here is primarily on social media, and I can clearly see a distinction between the two communities. In contemplating this, I have come to a few conclusions. First, what is permitted on a larger stage often gets transferred to other platforms, such as social media. Second, many individuals are preoccupied with their daily lives and immediate concerns, which can lead to less vocal advocacy for broader issues, particularly if they feel disconnected from the discussions at hand. Finally, there is a cultural tendency to focus inward. While I take pride in being Saudi, neglecting issues like these does not align with the values that Islam teaches us. None of you [truly] believes until he loves for his brother that which he loves for himself. Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him)
